Our visit includes a riding tour of the grounds of the Academy along with time to walk through the West Point Museum on the grounds. You will be entertained in our Included evening dinner and show at Westchester Broadway Dinner Theatre. On our second day we travel into New York City and make our way to ground zero and the September 11th Museum and Memorial. Experience the tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. You will also have free time near Rockefeller Center to explore on your own.
Your Trip Includes:
Day One: After an early morning departure we arrive at West Point Military Academy. Since its founding two centuries ago, it has accomplished its mission by developing cadets through extensive moral and ethical development. We begin with our professionally conducted, fully guided tour of the Academy. This is a riding tour aboard our coach with several stops included: Old Cadet Chapel rich in history, The Plain (where George Washington drilled the American forces – now the parade ground for the Academy) and Trophy Point (site of relics of wars dating back to the Revolution). This is the best way to experience this historic United States Military Academy. After our guided tour we will arrive back at the welcome center for a self-guided tour of the Museum. Here we’ll view the oldest and largest diversified public collection of militaria in the Western Hemisphere. Highlights also include some special collections of General Douglas MacArthur, George Patton and President Dwight Eisenhower (all graduates of West Point). Enjoy lunch on your own this afternoon at your choice of the many restaurants within steps of the museum and welcome center. We then head for Tarrytown NY and our hotel for the night. Following some time to freshen up we head out for our INCLUDED evening dinner and entertainment at the Westchester Dinner Theatre. Enjoy a scrumptious meal from off the menu and enjoy a Broadway Class show from the comfort of your seat.
Day Two: This morning enjoy our included breakfast at the hotel before we head for the island of Manhattan to see ground zero and the September 11th Memorial. The National September 11 Museum & Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon. The names of every person who died in the 2001 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history. The Museum is located within the archaeological heart of the World Trade Center site—telling the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts. The lives of every victim of the 2001 and 1993 attacks will be commemorated as visitors have the opportunity to learn about the men, women, and children who died. There will also be FREE TIME near Rockefeller Center . Once here you may want to explore at your own pace sights such as St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Times Square, Top of the Rock, NBC Studio Tour, or others. You may decided to take in the great shopping on Madison or 5th Avenue! Lunch will be on our own today. We then depart for home with a rest stop along the way.
