Stawberry Banke Museum – Step over the threshold of history … into life in one of our country’s oldest waterfront neighborhoods. Strawberry Banke is a 10-acre living history museum that has preserved the lifestyles and traditions of four centuries of New Englanders. Here you can see 40 buildings – most on their original sites – spanning from the late 1600s to the mid-1950s. From the spare storefronts of colonial merchants to the elegant Georgian-style mansion of Governor Goodwin, from the humble dwellings of early Jewish immigrants to the penny candy counter of the WWII-era Abbott Store, Strawberry Banke tells the stories of a neighborhood over time.

A Great Meal at the Portsmouth Gas Light Company with a little history to boot!! Welcome to The Grill at the Gas Light. Built in 1837, this building is the former home of the city’s first utility, the Portsmouth Gas Light Co. Over the last 170 years, it has stood the test of time-including Portsmouth’s “Great Fires.” If you look closely on the eastern wall, you can still see original brick charred by the fires. Today the restaurant is appointed with rich textures of wood, brick and copper paying homage to the Gas Light Company’s role in Portsmouth’s storied history. In fact, every week they burn more than a cord of aromatic wood in the brick oven kitchen to prepare their unique wood-fired bistro cuisine. We hope you’ll feel as at home at the Gas Light as we do.Once your lunch is completed take some time to browse the shops and sights within walking distance of the restaurant.

Flag Hill Winery – A crazy idea…..Led to a great future. Flag Hill Winery and Vineyard started with just a hope to grow grapes in the Northeast. An idea that most people in New Hampshire thought was crazy. In 1990 when Flag Hill began planting grapes there was not a clear picture of the future, only the hope they would grow and make drinkable wine. Through trial and error, and more trial and error, a focus began to immerge. Flag Hill doesn’t just make wines from our French-American, and Minnesota hybrid grapes, we also produce excellent fruit wines, a fortified wine, and we are now producing sparkling wines.
